Dunn

Joseph L. Dunn, Esq.
Executive Vice President & CEO
California Medical Association

Joe Dunn was appointed in October 2006 as the new Chief Executive Officer of the California Medical Association, a professional organization of 35,000 physicians and a recognized national leader in physician and medical issues.

State Senator (Retired) Joe Dunn (D-Garden Grove) was the Legislature’s investigative leader into the price-gouging practices of energy generators that caused the state’s energy crisis. As chairman of the Senate select energy oversight committee, Senator Dunn provided valuable information to state and federal investigators to pursue criminal and civil indictments against energy traders.

Senator Dunn has long been an advocate for children’s hospitals, emergency services, seniors and affordable housing. He has been honored with legislator-of-the-year awards from military veterans, peace officers, firefighters, law enforcement, physicians, children’s hospitals, attorneys, University of California alumni, homebuilders, affordable housing advocates, conservationists, mobile home owners and others.

Senator Dunn is a partner with Robinson, Calcagnie & Robinson and specializes in mass tort litigation in pharmaceuticals and medical devices. As a lawyer, he had a leading role in many of the high profile consumer cases in California over the last 15 years.

Now a trustee of the University of California, Irvine Foundation, he was recognized in 2001 by the UCI Chief Executive Roundtable for outstanding commitment to the University of California, Irvine and the UCI Medical Center.

He lives in Santa Ana with his wife, Diane, and their two children.
