Victoria Sheen

Victoria Sheen is a fourth year medical student at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.  Prior to joining the CMA Foundation Board she served as Chair of the CMA Medical Student Section (CMA-MSS) and on the CMA Committee on Professional Liability, AMA-MSS Committee on Legislation and Advocacy, and AMA-MSS Health Care Access Task Force.

Ms. Sheen is a student in the Medical Scholar's Program at UCSD, an honors 8-year combined B.A./M.D. program, where she earned undergraduate degrees in Economics and Biology, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.  Her other experience includes working as a public health analyst at the Health Resources and Service Administration in  the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services where she evaluated and designed interventions to improve access to health care and community services for underserved communities.  Additionally, Ms. Sheen was a student researcher at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health.  She has published research in cancer epidemiology and cardiology.

At the UCSD School of Medicine, Ms. Sheen served as the first-ever Graduate Student Advisor for the Golden Key International Honor Society, where she organized numerous community service projects and initiated a high-school mentoring program for low-income students.  She has also served as a volunteer and floor manager at the Medical Student-Run Free Clinic, and as the Head Coordinator of the Doctor's Ought to Care program (DOC), a health education outreach program that teaches students grades 4-12 about the dangers of tobacco, alcohol, sex, and poor nutrition.  

As an aspiring physician scientist and public health advocate, Ms. Sheen is committed to improving access to health care, reducing health disparities, and developing novel therapies.
